Twitter has 3 million followers... we think
When we went to the Twitter page a few minutes ago they has 3,000,006 but when we refresh they had 2,999,313 is this a glitch or some side affect of the major problem of timelines not updating for some users or did a bunch of people just un follow Twitter all at once?

Tsunami causes Uhhmm mail to fail
Uhhmm mail has gone up and down about 30 times in the last 5 minutes. They offered information as they got it threw email. About 50,000 people have signed up in 20 minutes. The demand is causing overloads in their data stream but they are working on it and will update us at a later time. Will these kind of things also happen to Twitter and Facebook? Their is no way to know.

Shoutitout is Swazzer
Swazzer a service that was launched in 07 and went bankrupt in 08 might be re launching under Shoutitout control. the old Swazzer URL has been set to redirect to Shoutitout and in the short glimpse you get you can see a "Videos" tab in the re design. Shoutitout also appears to have bought all of the founder of Swazzer Steve warner's copyrights on the service. Shoutitout also recently as of about an hour ago employed Victoria Thompson the ex biz developer of Swazzer as a Subsidiary CEO which means she will be CEO of a service owned by Shoutitout like Tomas knight is for Uhhmm. If Swazzer is re launching that will be great however it will be fascinating to see how fast UMG and WMG sue them and what Shoutitout has up its sleeve to escape these lawsuits.

Twitter hits 50 million Tweets a day Shoutitout says no one cares what happens in the day
Twitter just announced in a blog post that they have hit the 50 million Tweets per day mark as shown in the chart below, as well as the extreme growth Twitter has seen. Well, moments later Shoutitout added a blog post saying that their service is more popular for night dwellers and that the day is much slower on their site. AKA the stats don't make Twitter look that much bigger than Shoutitout.

Uhhmm... WE WANT YOU! (Rumor)
According to the chatter Shoutitout is about to snatch its second search engine. However, this time its not a social search engine but a web, music, lyrics, email host, Games, and news search engine. Uhhmm. Uhhmm laucnhed slightly before Shoutitout and flew up in areas such as Germany and Egypt however, recently has crashed down causing it to be near to closing. If Shoutitout doesn't buy it it will most likely go crashing out of business. This would be Shoutitouts second aquition and there second search engine one at that as they bought Ding! toward the very begging of this year for 25,000 USD the price and terms of the Uhhmm Shoutitout agreement are not known yet but we'll keep you updated!

Like we said before... ALWAYS AT THE SAME TIME!
This time though more minor issues Shoutitout and Twitter have an issue going on. About 24 minutes ago Twitters name search went dead. Then about 5 minutes ago Shoutitouts Im bot decided to log off and has not come back online yet. We are keeping an eye on these issues and have gotten no farther explanation from either service as to whats happening.
Minutes are free... if you have Skype
On Saturday, we reported on rumors that Verizon and Skype would be announcing a partnership deal at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Well, it’s official. The two companies are announcing what they call a “strategic relationship that will bring Skype to Verizon Wireless smartphones in March.”
Here’s how the Skype mobile and Verizon Wireless partnership will work:
- 3G smartphone users with a data plan can make and receive unlimited Skype-to-Skype voice calls to any Skype user around the world.
- Calls to international phone numbers will be at the Skype Out calling rate, if made through Skype mobile.
- Users can send and receive instant messages to other Skype users and remain connected to see friends’ online statuses.
The rollout for Skype mobile will be pretty broad, coming to existing phones like the BlackBerry Storm 9540, the Storm 2 9550, the BlackBerry Curve 8330 and 8830 models, the BlackBerry Tour 9630, plus the Motorola DROID, the HTC DROID ERIS and the Motorola DEVOUR.
If you have one of those phones and a 3G data plan, you’ll be able to start using Skype mobile when it rolls out in March.
Implications for the Future
As we noted in Saturday’s post, the implications of this kind of partnership are potentially huge. While Skype or VoIP calling via cellular devices might not become ubiquitous overnight (if it even does become ubiquitous), this is a big move on the part of Verizon. It indicates that the future of the company’s mobile business lies with data services. It makes sense too; clearly there is a lot more profit to be made in selling data subscriptions than bundles of voice minutes.
It will be interesting to see how other VoIP and VoIP-like services, as well as other carriers, respond to this announcement.
Do you see yourself using Skype to make voice calls from your cell phone? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments!

War of the tweets
(Update:) Steve Case has replied to Sarah Silverman saying that he stepped down as AOL CEO in 2000 and by his count it was 10 years ago.
Steve Case founder of AOL, Sarah Silverman and comedian, and Chris Anderson are in a little tweet war right now. It all started because Silverman used the word "retarded" to much when talking about Sarah Pailins new rant. As expected that flew right over TED's crowd. TED stated that he thought she did a horible job but deleted his tweet after a while. However it didn't stop silverman from responding giving a tweet of her own back to TED stating "Kudos to @TEDChris for making TED an unsafe haven for all! You're a barnacle of mediocrity on Bill Gates' asshole." Anderson must be somewhat more pleased. And then randomly AOL founder Steve Case stated that "The sad thing is you're not that funny." Now as expected Silverman would strike back stating "@Stevecase you should be nicer to the only person with an AOL account." Steve Case then cameback saying that he left AOL 10 years ago followed by a statement by Silverman saying that 2005 was not 10 years ago. We will keep you updated on how this fight goes!

Everyone responds to Google Buzz
Heres what everyone is saying agents Google Buzzes launch today. It’s no shocker that the web is buzzing about Google Buzz (terrible pun intended), Google’s most aggressive push into social media yet.
The new social updating and aggregation feature integrates with your mobile and your Gmail, providing a service that seems like a hybrid of Foursquare, Twitter, Facebook and Yelp.
People are already taking sides, including some of Google’s competitors. Yahoo struck first, putting out an e-mail about its own previous (and similar) social media efforts before Google even finished its announcement. Microsoft didn’t take long to make its thoughts heard, either.
Here are some choice reactions from web experts and Google’s and what will be Google Buzz's rivals:
Microsoft’s statement can be distilled into one very simple phrase: Nobody should care about Google Buzz.
Here’s the actual statement in its entirety:
“Busy people don’t want another social network, what they want is the convenience of aggregation. We’ve done that. Hotmail customers have benefited from Microsoft working with Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and 75 other partners since 2008.”
In three sentences, Microsoft manages to rip Google for building yet another social network, claim the social innovation crown, and promote its social integrations with its popular Hotmail product.
In reality, Buzz is far more advanced than anything Google has ever put out. However, Microsoft does own a piece of something that directly compete with Google Buzz: Facebook.
Google Buzz has the most potential yet to give Facebook and Microsoft trouble in the social space.
Yahoo
The Internet giant did not explicitly react to Google Buzz, but it did time an e-mail titled “Latest on Yahoo!’s social updates” with the intent of reminding people about its social features in the face of Google’s newest social media monster.
Choice quotes:
“There are now more than 200 Yahoo! and third-party sites that feed into Yahoo! Updates – like Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, Yelp and Yahoo! Buzz – allowing people to see and share updates such as when they’ve uploaded photos, changed their status, buzzed up a news story or posted a new restaurant review, all from Yahoo!”
“Yahoo! Updates now appear throughout the Yahoo! network, in popular sites and services like Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo.com, and Yahoo! Messenger and across our content properties, meaning people can always keep up to date with their friends’ latest activities”
“Yahoo! Updates are featured prominently on the “What’s New” section of Yahoo! Mail, which is used by more than 300M people worldwide. People can also update their status and share it with friends and family directly from the “What’s New” tab”
Clearly Yahoo feels threatened by Google’s product and, perhaps just as importantly, the buzz it is receiving. Yahoo is quickly becoming the oft-forgotten “other guy” despite being first with some of the features that Google is touting.
Forrester Research’s Augie Ray had this to say:
“While bringing relevance filtering to the noisy social media world could prove a significant advantage, this doesn’t (yet) seem to be enough to pull people away from the networks they’ve already created elsewhere. Buzz doesn’t update user’s Twitter or Facebook feeds, so I expect experimentation but not wholesale switching in the foreseeable future. Buzz could end up supplementing rather than replacing users’ other social networks for now.”
Forrester Research
We agree with Forrester’s initial reaction: Google Buzz isn’t compelling enough to pull people away from Foursquare, Facebook or Twitter — at least, yet. Google is putting a lot of resources into this project, and it won’t give up the fight for social easily.
Twitter
Twitter has a decient peaceful partnership with Google Buzz.
Facebook
Facebook has no connect and nothing to say about Google Buzz. They seem to not care at all.
Foursquare
Foursqaure seems to not be to worried. They have not released a statement or come out with any new features but they arn't going no care either.
Shoutitout
Shoutitout has released a statement via Shoutitout PM saying that
"Just a reminder Shoutitout offers intregration with Twitter, Live, AND Facebook so don't waster your time on other services, Shoutitout We're listening!"
Which is a response to the share on other network features that Google Buzz offers (Notice the Facebook in caps.)

Don't worry, we will have a comeback!
Shoutitout just un-officially announced they are going to have a comeback to Twitters link adding and new Hover cards in a Shout from there CEO William Parish. The question is what is it going to be? What do you think Shoutitout needs the most?
Twitter adds bussnius tab
Twitter has added a business tab to there bottom nav bar. Along with Apps and Goodies this makes Twitters nav bar packed with links. This also means Twitter has become a key in social networking for businesses so sites like Orkut, Jaiku, Shoutitout, and Friendfeed think "We need to do something to get bussniuses. Well i'm guessing we're about to see a major bussnius lure attempt.
Ask Uhhmm launches
Ask Uhhmm a new search provided by Uhhmm has launch! It is a search engine similar to Ask.com's Q & A Beta it searches the same sites and displays them like a normal search. The site does not offer and other skins and has a question of the day. Uhhmm is yet to add links to other searches wich means they arn't done with it yet!

Shoutitout just hit 4000 Shouts on super bowl Sunday what a way to mark the day in Shoutitout history. They also now average 100 Shouts a day Congrats Shoutitout! And what was the 4000th Shout? Heres a picture of it!
Even though there losing there winning online
Despite the fact that the Saints are losing the game they are winning the online debate. On Shoutitout everyone says Saints all 100% of everyone who mentioned it. On Facebook the Saints are winning but not by as much. On Google search the Saints have the lead though the Colts after getting close and falling back are ganging again. The only network the Colts seem to be leading on is Twitter! At lest according to the trending topics they are!

Moving up in the world
Shoutitout has passed Yammer a long time rival but in order to pass Jaiku the next site on there list they will have to more than double there views, also Jaiku has seen a major spike is visits as you can see from the chart below so I guess we'll see what Shoutitout comes up with to pass Jaiku and if Yammer tried to reclaim there lead over Shoutitout!
The first ever real! Shoutitout ask out
Last night at about nine o clock a not extremely active Shoutitout users who is mostly focused on 3rd part apps ask a VERY popular Shoutitout users a question, #willyoubemyvalentine well, that is a trend going around, and around, and around on Shoutitout people are asking people out threw that form but this is the first real accepted one. And at 9:28 this morning she said yes, well actually she said "@noaht uhhmmm... i... er uhhh ok i guesss yeah ok." So congrats to you to and congrats on getting those two free Shoutitout limited time Tee shirts!

Facebook gets a birthday present
Facebook is celebrating its 6th birthday in style, with yet another traffic milestone: 400 million users served.
Two months ago the social network hit 350 million, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg reminds us that number was less than half of today’s 400 million mark a year ago. It took the site about three months to climb from 300 to 350 million users and only about two months to gain another 50 million, indicating Facebook’s explosive growth is actually still accelerating.

No more Twitteros
Politicians in Mexico are reportedly drafting a bill to regulate Twitter and other social networks to curb crime in the country, according to Seattle PI.
Just like we’ve seen here in the States, citizens in Mexico are apparently using Twitter to evade police checkpoints that test for sobriety in Mexico City. The Global Post reports there is also a fear that drug cartels are using social networking tools to communicate, distribute wares, and evade law enforcement. Those using social networking for nefarious purposes even have a new nickname: Los Twitteros.
Federal lawmakers are currently working on specific legislation to address and punish Twitteros who either break the law directly or enable others to do so. “We have to regulate these websites to make sure there aren’t people breaking the law, making death threats or committing crimes via electronic means,” said federal representative Nazario Norberto. The bill contains a tentative provision to establish a sort of “cybernetic police force” that would help monitor social networking sites for criminal activity.
The proposed bill is already drawing criticism from civil liberties groups and ridicule from the general population. Where do you think governments should draw the line between protecting civil liberties and improving public safety?

Aol and their instant messengers (our 100 post)
Aol has 2 of the biggest instant messengers ICQ and AIM. ICQ is not as well developed but as you see in the chart below is more popular. ICQ is more advertised is most likely why it is more popular but why does AOL own two Instant messengers? ICQ or AIM which one would you get? I just downloaded ICQ and I think AIM is better.
