Twitter just announced in a blog post that they have hit the 50 million Tweets per day mark as shown in the chart below, as well as the extreme growth Twitter has seen. Well, moments later Shoutitout added a blog post saying that their service is more popular for night dwellers and that the day is much slower on their site. AKA the stats don't make Twitter look that much bigger than Shoutitout.
