As many of you have noticed Justin Bieber has been a trending topic on Twitter for about ever. Well its starting to look as if Shoutitout has gotten there own Justin Bieber out of Dwayne Wade. Wade has been trending on Shoutitout for the last 12 days it is the lowest it has been since then. Dwayne Wade of the Miami heat played with over 25 points in all 5 games verus Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Blippy isn't going to give out your credit card number anymore!
As I mentioned in Sunday’s post, Blippy’s founders were hammering out a new security plan to assure users that all their information, especially their credit card numbers, would be safe. They delivered this morning, in their latest blog post, issuing new details about the blunder, how it worked with Google, and the framework for a go-forward plan. In addition, Blippy sounded more contrite about the situation. On Friday their post said, “it’s a lot less bad than it looks,” this Monday the tone is less defensive and more apologetic: “However, this is a very serious issue and simply apologizing is not enough. We’ve spent the last 48 hours working around the clock to dissect the issues, reach out to affected users, and put together a plan to ensure this never happens again.”
The new security plan is a five-pronged effort:
After reaching a resolution, we spent today working on a go-forward plan to ensure that this never happens again.
Plan
1. Hire a Chief Security Officer and associated staff that will focus solely on issues relating to information security.
2. Have regular 3rd-party infrastructure & application security audits.
3. Continue to invest in systems to aggressively filter out sensitive information.
4. Control caching of information in search engines.
5. Create a security and privacy center that contains information about what we are doing to protect you.
The security of our users is our highest priority. If there are additional measures you would like us to take to improve Blippy’s security, please do not hesitate to email us at hello@blippy.com. We will personally respond to each and every recommendation.
Reading this list, I wondered why some of these measures were not implemented on day one. They’re a small start-up, so I understand not having a designated Chief of Security yet, but they should have had a security and privacy center (because of the high volume of sensitive information) and a closer relationship to search engines. Of course, that old cliche: better late than never, certainly holds true here. Conclusion, it’s thin on details but if executed properly, it could go a long way in restoring trust and persuading new users to come on board.

Weekly site review (Bebo)
Bebo is a social networking site owned by AOL it has plans to either be closed down or sold from AOL to another buyer.
Pros:
1. Bebo has good IM despite it not being used very often it isn't as in the way as Facebook and Myspaces IM and is allot faster.
2. It allows you to add a lifestream to your profile making it easier for you to put all your sites in one place similar to Friendfeed.
3. It has a beautiful design and layout with a very "shine" control bar.
Noes:
1. It isn't very active most members only check there account every month or so.
2. It has had a major drop in visitors unlike sites like Facebook, Mysapce, and Tagged its close competitors.
3. It is for sale in a way AOL has said that it is either closing it down or selling it so if it isn't sold you will not have Bebo anymore.

Uhhmm has reported that the issues seemed to resolve there selfs and they are working on finding out what exactly happened. In till then you can find Uhhmm again!

Gowalla adds events
Gowalla the second in command in the battle to be the top location based site has launched a new en genius feature. Events, reports say that it allows you to post an even for people to check in at when they show up for it and they can also confirm that they are coming like a RSVP similar to Facebook, Myspace, and SocailGo. I'd say this feature could rise them above Foursquare or at lest make sure Brightkite and Loopt don't come up from behind.

3 reasons why a Shout feed is better than a Facebook wall
1. Less pointless nonsense
There aren't any advertisements for apps or other pointless auto post that no one cares about.
2. Facebook auto updates your wall every time some posts making it hard to read something without it moving farther and farther down your wall. Shoutitout simply gives a drop down reminder saying there are post and giving you a refresh button to click.
3. detailed information
Shoutitout offers allot more info on the links, even a picture, Facebook post a thumbnail and a description from the first few sentences on the page. They also shrink down things like maps so they don't take up as much room.

New: Weekly site review (Plurk)
Starting today every Friday from now till whenever we will review a site on its awesomeness and the opposite.
Pros:
The different kind of timeline seems to be allot easier to view the Plurks from other users then the veridical Twitter and everyone other site similar to Plurks main idea. Karma is also a insisting way to get users to be more active and has a certain appeal to it. And last of course the graph comparing. You can search as many terms as you like and it compares them in a graph showing how many people are Plurking this word or phrase.
Noes:
Karma is up and down you can't just take a break without screwing your Karma. They also aren't as big of a network therefore are not as active so you can't get as much information out of it.

Continuing to fire
As some of you know the last few weeks in the microblog world have been very competitive. Well Shoutitout got involved in the war today. They released an iPad app about and hour ago and now they've announced that they have partnered up with Twitterfeed to allow blog feeds to post to Shoutitout. We aren't sure what the agreements are but we know that Twitterfeed has special accesses to Shoutitouts API.
Shoutitout: Right back at you!
Less than half a day after Twitter buys Tweetie and reports it will be changed to Twitter for iPhone. A few days after Twitter launches a black berry app a week after Plurk launches a iPhone app and just a few hours after Jaiku re launches there SMS Shoutitout has launched an iPad app to be the first on the board of microblogs with iPad apps.

Twitter for iPhone
Twitter has just announced that it has acquired Atebits, the company behind the popular Tweetie iPhone app and Mac desktop application.
Tweetie’s creator, Loren Brichter, will be joining the Twitter team as well. The app will be renamed “Twitter for iPhone” and be made free in the next few weeks. Twitter CEO Evan Williams explained the move in a blog post:
“We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve entered into an agreement with Atebits (aka Loren Brichter) to acquire Tweetie, a leading iPhone Twitter client. Tweetie will be renamed Twitter for iPhone and made free (currently $2.99) in the iTunes AppStore in the coming weeks. Loren will become a key member of our mobile team that is already having huge impact with device makers and service providers around the world.”
Twitter also specifically mentions that an official Twitter iPad app is indeed coming: “Developers, services, and publishers will be able to leverage the Twitter iPhone and iPad applications to create additional innovative tools and integrations for users,” Williams said in today’s announcement.
The move comes less than a week after a controversial blog post from Twitter investor Fred Wilson, Principal of Union Square Ventures. In it, Wilson explained that he is looking for Twitter apps to not fill holes in the Twitter platform (e.g. photo sharing, mobile apps) and instead focus on innovative products and “killer apps.” The post caught the attention of developers, who feared that Twitter itself would begin competing with their applications.
It’s uncertain what the acquisition of Tweetie means for unofficial Twitter mobile apps such as Echofon, TweetDeck, or Seesmic.

Preparing the troops
European telecommunication giants are preparing to fight Google over the data traffic and bandwidth that is consumed due to YouTube videos, according to a new report from the Financial Times. Their goal: to have Google pay them for the bandwidth YouTube and its other websites consume.
Telefónica, S.A., France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom are all cited in the report as being part of a new coalition looking to change the current state of affairs, where users are charged for Internet access, rather than websites that provide the content they consume. These telecoms believe that Google should share its online ad revenue with network operators for carrying its content. YouTube is their biggest complaint: by far, it is the most data-intensive service that the search giant offers.
It is also reported that the telecoms are looking for partners that might be interested in a fight with Google, including media companies that are upset with Google’s aggregation of their content in Google News.
From France Telecom CEO Stéphane Richard:
“Let’s see the development of digital society in terms of the winners and the victims. And today, there is a winner who is Google. There are victims that are content providers, and to a certain extent, network operators. We cannot accept this.”
The battle between telecoms and Google is not new: Comcast has been fighting with Google and the FCC over net neutrality rules as it seeks stronger controls over how much data comes through its network. It’s unclear how this battle will play out or who will be involved, but you can bet that it’ll heat up before it dies down.

Now we weren't going to talk about this in till we learned that the Apple store is also adding Facebook connect. So Facebook just scored too big points in there attempt to take over the internet after recently passing Facebook in the US and UK.
